Since the beginning of time there has been an almost mystical relationship between man and the horse. Evolving from ancient times where a highly specialized and finely tuned partnership was required for survival on the battle field, today the horse-rider partnership has become one that focuses on the progressive development of the physical ability of the horse coupled with harmony in his movement together with his rider. This process is called "dressage"; a term adopted from the French but today is used to describe dressage as a special equestrian discipline.
In the musical freestyle dressage movements are performed to music. In fact dressage is now the fastest growing equestrian sport in the United States, being pursued by riders and horses of all levels and the musical freestyle is rapidly becoming the most challenging, exciting and fun aspect of dressage for both the amateur and professional alike.
